For a week, the dramatic accidents have been linked and mourning Peru.
At least 32 people were killed, including two children, and 22 others injured when a bus plunged into a ravine early Tuesday in the center of the country, rescue and police said.
A first assessment reported 17 deaths, quickly increased to 26 and then to 29 deaths.
This is the third accident causing a significant number of victims in recent days in Peru.
The bus was carrying 63 passengers and had left Huanuco, in the northeast, for Lima, the capital.
Police question speed
"Unfortunately, we have cleared 32 bodies", announced the police commander César Cervantes, according to which "recklessness" is at the origin of the accident, the driver "was driving at high speed". Earlier, Major Freddy Loarte, who heads the rescue, announced that a crane was expected to move the bus and extricate victims. Among them are two children aged three and six. The driver who was driving at the time of the accident died, the second driver was taken into custody.
On Sunday, 22 people, according to a new report also released on Tuesday, died and an unknown number of people are still missing after two boats collided on a river in the Peruvian Amazon.
One of the boats carried more than 80 people while its maximum tonnage was 30 places.
Two days earlier, a bus had plunged into a ravine in the southeast of the country, killing 17 people.
Traffic accidents are very common in Peru due to excessive speed, poor road conditions, lack of signage and poor controls by the authorities.
