The tea towel continues to burn between Stéphane Ruffier and his club.

The Saint-Etienne goalkeeper was laid off again, we learned from ASSE on Tuesday, confirming information from

the Team's website

.

The 34-year-old has been penalized for leaving an individual training session prematurely.

He is summoned on December 2 for an interview prior to a possible sanction.

"Act of insubordination"

At the end of July, Stéphane Ruffier had already been laid off for six days for "act of insubordination", a delay in training that he had contested.

The Stéphanois goalkeeper, excluded from the professional group since then, had appealed to the legal committee of the Professional Football League which had notably ordered the club to reinstate him.

On October 26, AS Saint-Étienne announced to appeal this decision while affirming that the goalkeeper had been unsuccessful in his requests concerning the challenge of the disciplinary sanctions imposed on him.

This season, Claude Puel announced that the player would not be integrated into the trio of goalkeepers of the professional workforce, composed of Jessy Moulin, Stefan Bagic and Étienne Green, a choice he reaffirmed on October 16.

Stéphane Ruffier, who enjoys one of the highest salaries in the professional workforce (approximately 2.8 million euros annually) has been in dispute with ASSE since February 23 after the decision of general manager Claude Puel to put him to rest for the Ligue 1 match against Reims (1-1).

End of contract on June 30

This summer, Puel had affirmed that Stéphane Ruffier would have informed him of his refusal to be the understudy of Moulin, appointed goalkeeper N.1, which the person concerned denied, supporting, by a press release from his lawyer, that one had never offered him the role of N.2.

Ruffier is at the end of his contract on June 30th.
