“One officer of the State Committee for National Security, 13 soldiers were injured during an attack by an armed criminal group in the Rushan district of the Gorno-Badakhshan Autonomous Region (GBAO) on a convoy of the State Committee,” RIA Novosti was told in the department.

The interlocutor explained that organized criminal groups consisting of 200 people, using all types of weapons, blocked the Dushanbe-Khorog highway and the border commandant's office at three points in the center of the Rushan region.

According to him, the criminals "prepared in advance for these actions" and for this they imported weapons from abroad.

As a result of the anti-terrorist operation, eight militants without weapons and more than 70 armed active members of the terrorist group were detained, 11 were injured, the press center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs reported.

Weapons, ammunition and Molotov cocktails were confiscated from the organized criminal group.

Civilians were not injured, and a criminal case was initiated against the detainees.

On the morning of May 18, it became known that the security forces of Tajikistan launched an anti-terrorist operation in the east of the country in the Gorno-Badakhshan Autonomous Region after members of the organized criminal group “to destabilize the socio-political situation” blocked the Dushanbe-Kulma international highway.
