Ivan Reitman's death has rocked Hollywood.
The director of
Ghostbusters
, unanimously adored in the world of cinema, leaves a great void, and on social networks, those who rubbed shoulders with him painted the portrait of a man whose talent had no equal to his generosity with those who collaborated with him.
His son, Jason, who directed
Ghostbusters: Afterlife
last summer (a tribute to the original film at the same time as passing the torch), delivered an emotional tribute to his “hero”.
“I lost my hero.
All I want is the chance to tell my dad another story.
He came from a family of survivors and turned his legacy into laughs.
Thank you for these kind messages.
Enjoy his films and remember his storytelling gifts.
Nothing would make him happier,” he posted on Twitter.

His friend Dan Aykroyd had a thought for the filmmaker's family.
“I am heartbroken today for Geneviève, Catherine, Caroline, Jason and the family.
The loss of my friend, collaborator, champion and one of the last great creative talents of the silver screen era is devastating to me.
Now, on Thursday, who am I going to call?
“, he wrote on twitter, in reference to the slogan of the ghost hunters in the film
Who ya gonna call
?, “Who are you going to call?

A "mensch"
Arnold Schwarzenegger, who had trusted Ivan Reitman when he decided to switch from strong action films to family comedies in the 90s, has also split a tribute to his friend, sharing several photos where they pose side by side, at different times in their lives and careers.
“Ivan Reitman is a legend.
In Hollywood, he was larger than life.
He was one of the kings of comedy.
In real life, he was a mensch – a wonderful father and husband, a fantastic friend, a wonderful human being.
He was kind, he was generous, he was smart as hell, and he was always there for you.
I am devastated, and my thoughts are with the Reitman family,” the former California governor wrote.
In addition to the first two
Ghosbuters
(
Ghostbusters
in VF), Ivan Reitman had made other cult comedies such as
Jumeaux
,
Un Flic à la Maternelle
, or
Junior
, all huge boxes at the box office.
