Ariel Rot

was born in Buenos Aires but feels like a Madrilenian.

And he says it:

"It's my favorite city to live in

. "

Here he lives with his family, here he enjoys walking through its streets and here he gives concerts like the one that unites him with Kiko Veneno on the stage of the Gran Teatro Caixabank Príncipe Pío.

As part of the CaixaBank Madrid Live Experience festival,

the two artists will star in the show

A country to listen to

on Saturday, October 1 .

The two met as a result of the excellent program of the same title that could be seen on La2 and they became friends.

Ariel Rot with Kiko Veneno.

"With that program I was lucky to meet and

be able to play with people like Tomatito or Kiko Veneno, but also with non-commercial but exciting artists

," says Rot.

Now, together they star in concerts all over Spain which, as happened in the aforementioned television program, allow Ariel Rot to play with different artists at each stop on that tour.

At the concert on October 1, Roy and Veneno will be joined by Lichis and Madrid-born singer-songwriter Travis Birds.

"Madrid is a place where I live, where my children and my friends are. For this reason, playing here always has something special, a different state of mind," says Ariel Rot.

"It feels a bit more pressure but I like it.

We don't want to be conservative, every concert is always a challenge and a commitment."

About the capital, the artist from Buenos Aires explains that "

Madrid is a city that is a bit wild, past revolutions and that can become aggressive. And with all that I love it.

Walking through its streets, going to places where it is a pleasure to eat or to buy...".

Although, for someone who thoroughly lived the night, things have changed.

"Now I'm more into small meetings and chats with friends.

The night confuses me (laughs)."

Ariel Rot arrived in Madrid in 1976 from an Argentina convulsed by the military dictatorship

.

"The first thing I appreciated at that time was that you could live freely on the street. It was an explosion of freedoms that, luckily, I was able to participate in."

And part of those times appear in the

documentary

Tequila: sex, drugs and rock&roll

, by Álvaro Longoria

, in which Alejo Stivel and Ariel Rot have an outstanding participation.

"I think it reflects that story, without forgetting the hardest parts," the Argentine is honest.

THE MADRID OF... ARIEL ROT

A MARKET:

Vallehermoso Market

Here you can enjoy unique corners like a Japanese restaurant but also something that, for me, is very important:

an atmosphere of good vibes

.

And, of course, the products that you find in the stalls are top quality and in a

casual atmosphere

where you can still take home bread, wines, other products that, if you feel like it, chat.

A STORE: MAD Vintage & Rare Guitars

A store of friends who are wonderful people.

It is not that they sell rare guitars, but that they are different.

Of

those that are not usually found in other places.

Different instruments that are sold here.

A MUSEUM

I think that I am not yet in a phase of my life so calm as to be able to go to museums with time.

But, when it arrives, without a doubt the

Thyssen, Prado and Reina Sofía

will be those spaces that I will visit and enjoy.

AN AREA TO WALK

One of the routes that I love in the capital is to stroll through the

Conde Duque area, walk along Calle La Palma, Plaza Dos de Mayo, Malasaña

completely and walk that path again.

A PARK: Parque del Oeste.

It seems to me

a magical space

, one of the best in Madrid.

Walking through this park is a pleasure that I like to end by going to the

Parque de la Bombilla and crossing a bridge

under which the trains cross.

There, seeing how the locomotives pass with their wagons, you can enjoy spectacular views with some very special graffiti.

A PLACE: Clamores Room

The great Germán Pérez passed away last year.

And many of us are orphaned in a way.

In this room we enjoy playing freely in a free and relaxed atmosphere.

It has always been my home.

Another space that I love to enjoy with performances is the

Noches del Botánico

, a stage that appears in the city when summer arrives.

TWO STORES

There are two shops on Calle Conde Duque that I like to go to on my walks.

They belong to two friends and in both one and the other you find clothes with a very special style.

They are

MiniShopMadrid and Sportivo

, which are just a few meters away from each other.

TWO RESTAURANTS

At lunchtime let me tell you that I have many favorite places.

A lot of.

In some I enjoy a lot with friends and in others it is also to discover exceptional dishes that make that visit unique but very special.

That is why I want to talk about

Mercato Ballaró

in which every time I sit at the table I think that I am with family.

I always come out very happy.

And

Smoked Room

, a highly recommended haute cuisine restaurant to celebrate something in style.
