July 24, 2020 The five suspects for the murder of Serena Mollicone have been remanded to trial by the Gup of the Court of Cassino, Domenico Di Croce. The trial will take place starting from January 15th. The former commander of the Carabinieri barracks of Arce, Franco Mottola, his wife Anna and his son Marco will have to answer in the court trial of voluntary murder and concealment of a corpse.The former deputy commander of the Arce station, Lieutenant Vincenzo Quatrale, and the appointed Francesco Suprano are also on trial. The Gup accepted the requests made by the public prosecutor Maria Beatrice Siravo and by the civil lawyers, De Santis, Salera, Nardoni, Castellucci representing the family members of Serena Mollicone and Santino Tuzi.
Legal of the father: "The thought goes to William"
"We are satisfied, we got what we asked for which is the best we could get. A strong thought goes William, if he had been alive he would have lived this satisfaction too. This result was achieved also thanks to his courage and perseverance ". The lawyer Dario De Santis, lawyer of Guglielmo Mollicone, Serena's father, was killed in Arce in 2001. Guglielmo, after struggling a lifetime to get to the truth, died on May 31 last.

Serena Mollicone leaves the house early in the morning after preparing breakfast for her father, with whom she has lived alone since her mother's death. He goes to the hospital in Sora where he has an appointment set for a few days for an ortho-overview. From that moment he will never return home and the last hours of his life remain a mystery. At lunchtime, his father, Guglielmo Mollicone, primary school teacher and owner of a stationery store in Arce, begins to worry about the absence of his daughter and in the afternoon reports his disappearance to the police. The search begins: law enforcement and volunteers sift through the surrounding villages with a photo of Serena in the hope of tracking her down.
June 3, 2001
Two Civil Protection volunteers find Serena. She's dead. The body is close to a pile of rubbish and half hidden by a washing machine and other bulky items, abandoned on the grass in an Anitrella grove. Serena is found with her hands and feet tied with tape and wire and a Eurospin bag on her head. The investigations begin, coordinated by the Prosecutor of the Republic of Cassino, Gianfranco Izzo and the deputy prosecutors Maurizio Arcuri and Carlo Morra.
FEBRUARY 6, 2003
The coachbuilder Carmine Belli is arrested. He continues to specify that he is not the culprit and that he knows absolutely nothing about that horrible crime. But nobody believes him and three months later, at the end of May 2003, the Cassino public prosecutor's office closes the investigation and asks for trial on charges of voluntary murder. The 37-year-old is indicted, but his attorneys, lawyers, Romano Misserville and Silvana Cristoforo, continue to profess his innocence and officially ask at a press conference to investigate environments closer to Serena's family.
JANUARY 14, 2004
The trial of Carmine Belli opens before the Court of Assizes of Cassino. The coachbuilder is accused of killing and then hiding the body of Serena Mollicone. The public prosecution calls to testify 57 people, 150, however, witnesses called into question by defense lawyers.
JULY 7, 2004
It is the last chapter of the trial at first instance to Carmine Belli. The defense asks for absolution and the Court of Assizes, chaired by judge Biagio Magliocca, comes out with his sentence: acquitted.
SEPTEMBER 29, 2005
The appeal process begins in Rome after the Cassino Prosecutor's appeal. Carmine Belli, however, revokes the appointment to his lawyers and the trial slips. The Court of Assizes of Appeal, pending the appointment of new defenders, orders that Belli be assisted by an official defender.
JANUARY 31, 2006
The attorney general defines the absolution of Belli at first instance and the first Court of Assizes of Appeal in Rome, chaired by Antonio Cappiello, as illogical and contradictory, he also asks for a sentence of 23 years in prison for voluntary murder and concealment of a corpse. According to the representative of the public prosecutor, the accused would have repeatedly lied and his alibi would be false. In the same afternoon, after less than two hours in the Council Chamber, President Cappiello pronounced the second acquittal sentence for Belli, due to insufficient evidence. The relatives of the killed student are instead sentenced to pay court costs.

The First Criminal Section of the Cassation dismisses all appeals, accepts the defensive thesis of Eduardo Rotondi, lawyer of the coachbuilder of Arce, and definitively acquits Carmine Belli.

Brigadier Santino Tuzi makes some statements about Serena Mollicone and says he saw her enter the carabinieri barracks on June 1, 2001, but that he did not see her go out.
April 11, 2008
Santino Tuzi is found dead in his car in a wood, killed by a gunshot wound to the chest. The hypothesis is suicide. The daughter will say she is convinced of the link between the death of her father and "the truth about the case of Serena Mollicone". "I'm sure my father knew something and that he had been threatened with retaliation against the family," says Maria Tuzi.
JULY 1, 2009
8 years after the assassination of Serena Mollicone, a new witness appears to be emerging. A letter with two photos is delivered to the editorial staff of the RaiTre television broadcast 'Chi visto'. In the strictly anonymous letter, a person in two handwritten pages reports some highlights that precede the disappearance of the 18-year-old from Arce. The anonymous witness also attaches two photographs.

A coup with the registration of some people in the register of suspects by the Cassino prosecutor for the murder of Serena Mollicone. The suspects, four men and a woman, will have to undergo the DNA test.
