“I would like to add that some American politicians are mistaken if they think that our willingness to defend our territory does not apply to Crimea,” the Russian ambassador wrote in The National Interest magazine. 

In addition, Antonov stressed, the readiness to defend the security of one's territory also extends to regions that may become Russian as a result of referendums.
