Harassment, discrimination and lack of will to fight against anti-Semitism: crushed in a damning report on its failure to fight against this scourge, the British Labor Party recognized this Thursday a "

day of shame

" and suspended its former leader Jeremy Corbyn.

The report by the Equality and Human Rights Committee (HERC), an independent body, notes about 20 unfortunate interventions by Jeremy Corbyn's office to influence a decision, avoid the suspension of officials or delay an investigation.

The EHRC interim president pointed to "

inexcusable

 "

failings

resulting from "a

lack of will to tackle anti-Semitism rather than an inability to do so

 ".

In its 130-page text, the Committee concludes that the Labor Party has “

committed unlawful acts

 ”.

Labor now has a legal obligation to put together, in agreement with the commission, an action plan to remedy this by December 10, failing which it risks prosecution.

Jeremy Corbyn, 71, wrote on Facebook that he did not accept "

all

" of the report's findings and that he ruled out any personal failure in the fight against the scourge.

In light of his comments,

 " the party "

suspended Jeremy Corbyn

" and opened an investigation, a Labor spokesperson said.

I will strongly contest the political intervention to suspend me

", warned on Twitter Jeremy Corbyn who ensures "to

support a policy of zero tolerance with regard to all forms of racism

 ".

Without going as far as exclusion, the party however takes the risk of reviving its divisions by sanctioning its former leader (from 2015 to 2020), still a deputy, who had transformed Labor into the first party in Europe in terms of number of members with strong popularity in the activist base.
