Unsurprisingly, the poster for the Women's French Cup final will pit the players of PSG against those of Olympique Lyonnais. The two flagship clubs of French women's football have already faced each other four times in the final of the national event. OL have won it three times, PSG one, the last, in 2018 in Strasbourg.

Bordeaux opens the scoring

However, all was not easy for Paris. The players had to fight to win the match 2-1 Sunday night against Bordeaux. The experience of the major meetings of PSG, as well as its bench, finally made the difference, in this recovery match generally dominated by the vice-champions of France but who had difficulty in breaking through the Girondin lock, supported by 2,000 supporters.

The Bordeaux women believed in it, especially after the opener of the opportunist Katia Snoeijs to intercept an unstable pass from the Canadian Ashley Lawrence before going to win her duel with the Chilean goalkeeper Christiane Endler (1- 0, 23rd). Until then, the Parisian players, under the eyes of sports director Leonardo, had been the most dangerous but Marie-Antoinette Katoto (5th) and Kadidiatou Dinai (10th) could not find the frame.

More comfortable in construction, they found salvation on the restart, not on Nadia Nadim's free kick on the post (47th), but eight minutes later on a corner from the latter, taken from the head by captain Irene Paredes (1-1). The Bordelaises, on a rare weak Parisian time, almost doubled the bet but the volley of Khadija Shaw ended on the post (77th). The returns of Sandy Baltimore and Signe Brunn on the visiting side bore fruit against the then tired Girondines who ended up giving in on an opening of the first for the Danish striker, who scored the goal of qualification (84th).

Dzsenifer Marozsán after #EAGOL: "It was a real Cup match. Guingamp gave everything. It was not an easy match. We could have played better but the main thing is to qualify for this final. @WRenard achieved a gesture of number 10 and @lilkeets ended well. " pic.twitter.com/pQtyq3nuBZ

OL without trembling or shining

Earlier in the afternoon, OL had qualified without trembling or shining by beating Guingamp 1 to 0. Showing a clear physical and technical superiority, the Lyonnaises largely dominated, but the attackers lacked efficiency, stumbling again and again on Solène Durant, the Breton keeper and captain.

Coach Jean-Luc Vasseur after #EAGOL: "We put more pace and conviction in the second half. We are going to analyze this match well and learn the lessons. We lacked efficiency in the first half."

It was finally after more than an hour of effort that OL opened the scoring, thanks to a cross from Wendy Renard taken over by Nikita Parris (65th). But the Guingampaises, who had never yet reached this stage of the competition, were not impressed and took advantage of a relaxation of the Lyonnaises after their goal to try to press at the end of the match, encouraged by the thousand spectators masked persons authorized at the Roudourou stadium. However, this was not enough for the Breton club.

The PSG players will meet those of Lyon on Sunday August 9 in Auxerre for the final. There may also be another reunion at the end of August in the Champions League semi-finals in Bilbao. But before that, it will be necessary that the two teams pass the cap of the quarters.
