The assize court for minors in Hauts-de-Seine judged on Monday the pastor of the Evangelical Church Night of God in Villeneuve-la-Garenne (Hauts-de-Seine).

He was found guilty of raping and sexually assaulting two worshippers.

The spiritual leader, on the other hand, was acquitted of other sexual violence, reports

Le Parisien

.

A 17-year-old victim explained that she had been raped and sexually assaulted by the respondent between April 2017 and 2018. She then participated in "deliverance" sessions against "evil spirits".

Three other women had in turn denounced sexual violence.

The respondent was acquitted for the facts denounced by the minor.

Eight years in prison

The court considered that it was not possible "to exclude instrumentalization of the girl's speech by the mother".

He was also acquitted for the attacks denounced by a 60-year-old faithful.

The man with hundreds of followers was still sentenced to eight years in prison but could appeal.
