An American boy kills a baby with his father's gun
An eight-year-old boy killed a first-year-old and injured a little girl last weekend in Florida while playing with his father's pistol, a new tragedy in a series of similar incidents in the United States.
Escambia County Sheriff Chip Simmons said Father Roderick Randall, 45, was arrested and charged with negligence, illegal possession of firearms and concealment of evidence.
The incident took place in a hotel where the man in his forties was meeting his girlfriend, and took his son with him, while the woman brought her two-year-old twin daughters and her one-year-old daughter.
The police chief said in a press conference that the man left the room, leaving his weapon “in a cupboard.” His son, who knew where the weapon had been placed, only “grabbed it and started playing with it.”
Simmons added that the boy "shot and killed the one-year-old girl", while the bullet that penetrated the dead woman's body continued to hit "one of the twin girls."
As it was likely that the injured girl would survive, he indicated that the mother of the two victims was asleep at the time of the accident.
When the father returned, he was taken out of the bedroom before the police arrived with the gun and some substances likely to be drugs, and this incident is one of a series of similar incidents recorded in the United States.
