The Abu Dhabi Department of Economic Development and the Abu Dhabi Energy Services Company, a subsidiary of the Abu Dhabi National Energy Company (TAQA), have announced the signing of a cooperation agreement to enhance the efficiency of industrial facilities consumption in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi for water and electricity.

The agreement will contribute to enabling Abu Dhabi Energy Services to see opportunities to reduce electricity and water consumption in buildings and industrial facilities across the emirate, which will contribute to achieving tangible cost savings and enhancing efficiency in use.

He added: “The electric tariff stimulus program contributed to increasing the productivity of participating establishments by 14%, and the return on investment by 25%, which prompted us to expand the program’s scope to include small and medium companies operating in the sector.

We believe that the agreement with (Abu Dhabi Energy Services) contributes to strengthening the industrial sector, its flexibility and its positive contribution towards achieving sustainable development in Abu Dhabi.”

For his part, CEO of Abu Dhabi Energy Services, Khalid Mohammed Al Qubaisi, said that the agreement aims to enhance the capabilities associated with the development of the building rehabilitation program, as part of the Abu Dhabi Emirate’s strategy for demand-side management and rationalization of energy consumption 2030, which contributes to reducing electricity consumption by 22%, and water consumption by 32% by 2030.

He continued: "Under the signed agreement, (Abu Dhabi Energy Services) will cooperate with the Department of Economic Development in Abu Dhabi to find out potential ways to achieve cost savings, in a way that supports efforts to enhance the efficiency of the industrial sector, rationalize electricity and water consumption, and confirms our joint commitment to support strategic plans. To achieve climate neutrality in the UAE by 2050.”
