A Texas mother in her 40s has been charged with locking her teenage son, who tested positive for COVID-19, in the trunk of a car.
According to the Cypress-Fairbanks School District in Houston, Texas, police have charged Sarah Beam, 41, of endangering a child, the Daily Guardian reported on the 8th.
After his 13-year-old son tested positive for COVID-19, he had him in the trunk of his car to avoid getting infected, and then went to a drive-thru COVID-19 testing station at Stadium Northwest Houston for further testing.
The Cyprus-Fairbanks School District Health Services Director, who worked at the testing station, heard Beam's statement that his son was in a trunk to prevent exposure to COVID-19 and called the police.
After conducting a full investigation, the police received an arrest warrant for Beam.
However, Beam, who is also a school district teacher, has not yet been arrested or voluntarily called the police.
Fortunately, the son, who got into the trunk, was not harmed, the school district said.
