Amending the visa system in Jordan

The Legislation and Opinion Bureau in Jordan published a draft regulation amending the visa system No. (3) of 1997, to increase the validity period of visas issued by Jordanian diplomatic missions abroad for a period not exceeding three months instead of one month.

According to the draft published on the website and presented for comment for a period of 15 days, the amendment will be made to paragraph (3-b), which originally states that “the visas stipulated in paragraph (a) of this article issued by the ministry shall be valid and valid for entry into the territory of the Kingdom.” Within a period not exceeding two months, as for those issued by Jordanian diplomatic missions abroad, they shall be valid for a period not exceeding one month from the date of their issuance.

Whereas Paragraph (a) of Article (3) states: “With due regard to the agreements concluded between the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan and other countries, the visa shall be of the following types:

1.

A visit visa to the Kingdom for a single trip or for multiple trips.

2.

A transit visa through the territory of the Kingdom for one trip or for several trips.

3.

A visa for the purpose of working in the Kingdom.

4.

A visa for tourism purposes in the Kingdom.

?

5.

Visa for treatment purposes in the Kingdom.

?

6.

A visa for the purposes of studying in the Kingdom.

?

7.

Exit and re-entry visa to the Kingdom.

The draft also amended what is stipulated in Paragraph (3-b), related to “the visas issued by the ministry shall be valid and valid for entry into the territory of the Kingdom within a period not exceeding two months,” to be “in line with the type of visa granted” instead of “ no more than two months."

The Legislation and Opinion Bureau presents draft legislation based on Paragraph (b-1) of Article (11) of the Legislation and Opinion Bureau system issued pursuant to Article (120) of the Constitution, which states: “The Bureau shall publish the draft referred to it by the President on the Bureau’s website. For a period of no less than ten days to enable citizens and specialists to view it and express their observations about it, and these notes shall be included in the project file for review by the body that studies it.
