Wang Wentian pointed out that Cambodia No. 3 Highway is a major transportation artery connecting the capital Phnom Penh and Kampot Province. It not only has far-reaching strategic significance for the coordinated economic development of Cambodia's southwest coastal area and the capital Phnom Penh, but also is particularly important for the Cambodian government to implement the road backbone network upgrade plan.
In terms of bilateral relations between China and Cambodia, the completion and smooth opening of the No. 3 highway reconstruction and expansion project once again reflects the strong momentum and fruitful results of China-Cambodia pragmatic cooperation.
Wang Wentian said that in the past few months, we have jointly witnessed the completion and opening of many traffic projects such as roads and bridges in Cambodia.
In the future, China will, as always, provide Cambodia with assistance within its capacity to improve the national road network.
Highways 31, 33 and 41, which the Cambodian side cares about, are also expected to officially start construction this year.
We are actively considering supporting the upgrading of the Kampot to Sihanoukville road.
Wang Wentian said that although the new crown epidemic has had a huge impact on the flow of people and logistics between the two sides, we are pleased to see that some major projects of bilateral cooperation have withstood the pressure of the epidemic and were successfully completed on time and with high quality.

Wang Wentian said that this year is a year of special significance for Cambodia.
Cambodia will serve as the rotating chairman of ASEAN externally, and will hold township district elections internally.
As a die-hard friend, China firmly supports Cambodia in successfully fulfilling its rotating chairmanship of ASEAN, and supports Cambodia in playing a more important role in regional and international affairs.
