The Hollywood actor and his lawyer wife should soon become the owners of the Canadel estate in Brignoles, in the Var.

A property of more than 710 hectares whose price could exceed 8 million euros.

The sale is expected to be signed around May 8, according to the mayor.

A star in the Var.

Actor George Clooney and his wife, Lebanese-British lawyer Amal Clooney, should soon become the owners of the Canadel estate in Brignoles.

A property of more than 170 hectares in the middle of "green Provence", in the middle of olive trees, pines and oaks.

"This is not a wine estate, it is a real Provençal property", confides the mayor of the commune Didier Brémond at the microphone of Europe 1. According to his information, the sale is not yet signed but should be done around May 8.

The actor has already visited the premises, an area owned by an Australian couple, the price of which could exceed 8 million euros.

"There are beautiful rooms, ponds, forests, a pond", lists the city councilor of Brignoles.

"If I understood correctly, he is looking for a property to come and rest, not necessarily a large wine estate."

An unusual neighbor

The name of the star is obviously seller.

Eric Lambert is the president of the Coteaux Varois en Provence wine union.

The United States is their primary export market.

"We already have prestigious people: Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, George Lucas at Châteauvert… It's true that they become ambassadors," he rejoices.

Surprised, the neighbors of the Canadel estate are rather proud. "It's funny to have George Clooney as a neighbor," says a local resident. "On occasion, if he wants to buy me a beer why not," jokes another, praising the beauty of the region. "It's a change from Sainte-Maxime, Saint-Tropez. We also have very pretty corners in the center of Var."
