Altfriedland (dpa / bb) - The fishing village Altfriedland (Märkisch-Oderland) on the edge of Märkische Schweiz is celebrating its 750th anniversary this year.

On the first weekend in August, the Altfriedländer Fischerfest is to be remembered.

Due to the corona restrictions, however, the festival program has not yet been set, said mayor Dieter Arndt (non-party).

"We celebrate small but nice to avoid large crowds," he said.

The Altfriedland Monastery Concerts, organized by the local cultural association since 2005, traditionally in late summer, are to be continued this year.

Last year, the concerts of medieval music had to be relocated from the refectory of the Cistercian monastery complex to the neighboring monastery church for the first time.

In compliance with the corona-related distance and hygiene rules, the monastery ruins from the 13th century offered too little space for visitors.

Altfriedland has been part of the Neuhardenberg community, around 70 kilometers northwest of Berlin, since the late 1990s.
