Alsfeld (dpa / lhe) - The Vogelsberg town of Alsfeld wants to test opening steps in the pandemic as a model municipality.
From today on, retail stores in the city center should be allowed to open.
Strolling and shopping are only allowed to those who can present a current negative corona test.
A city spokesman announced that further possible relaxation, for example for outdoor catering, will only take place in a second step as part of the project.
At the end of March, the state of Hesse had designated three cities that could be used as model communities to try out opportunities for shopping or visits to local restaurants.
In addition to Alsfeld, Baunatal in northern Hesse and Dieburg were selected.
The magistrate should decide whether the attempt will be implemented in the southern Hessian municipality.
Baunatal wants to announce when it starts at the end of the week.
The duration of the experiments is limited, they should end on May 1st.
According to the Hessian Ministry of Health, the incidence in the Vogelsbergkreis, i.e. the number of new corona infections per 100,000 inhabitants within seven days, is currently 140.1 (as of Wednesday 00.00).
