• The program for the next Nuits de Fourvière festival was presented this Tuesday morning in Lyon.

It will take place from July 2 to 30.

  • If the arrivals of Mathieu Chedid, The Smiles or Juliette Armanet had already been announced by those concerned, we note those of Nick Cave, Patti Smith or Midnight Oil.

  • On the French side, Jacques and Thomas Dutronc should create the event, just like Calogero or Julien Clerc, in another register.

The organizers call this “the big concerts”.

When unveiling the musical program for the next Nuits de Fourvière de Lyon [June 2 – July 30], Dominique Delorme jokes.

"It leaked a lot... but we worked to get it leaked."

Without surprise, the boss of the festival confirmed, on Tuesday, the already announced arrivals of Mathieu Chedid and The Smile, this summer on the stage of the ancient theater.

The first, which holds one of the attendance records, will give three concerts: June 20, 21 and 22.

"It's a gift he gives us.

Three dates, it's not easy to put in a schedule.

But he really likes being there,” says Sophie Broyer, the festival’s artistic music advisor.

Nick Cave, Patti Smith, Midnight Oil… The legends at the rendezvous

The concerts part will be launched by a very rock week.

The legendary Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, which have not been produced in Lyon since 2013, will open the ball on June 6 and 7.

"Their return after nine years of absence will, without a doubt, be a new peak", predicts Dominique Delorme.

Especially since the group is rare.

He will only give 3 concerts this summer in France.

The arrival of The Smile, the next day, also promises to be one of the big hits of this summer.

“The most exciting indie project of the moment”, the trio formed by Thom Yorke and Tom Skinner of the group Radiohead and Jonny Greenwood, will give a single and unique performance (June 8).

The Californians of Deftones will take over on June 9, before leaving the stage to the little Frenchies of Phoenix, on June 10.

“Festival icon”, Patti Smith is expected on June 23.

Scheduled for July 14, the Americans of Queens and the Stone Age have finally postponed their visit for a year.

They will nevertheless be replaced at short notice by the Australians of Midnight Oil, who will thus complete their tour by Fourvière.

"They will give a 2:30 concert, interspersed with fireworks", tease Dominique Delorme.

Finally, on the electro side, we note the arrival of the Berlin trio Moderat, on June 11th.

Juliette Armanet and the great names of the French scene

The French will not be outdone this year, and the program promises to be as eclectic as ever.

Rapper Youssoupha will be accompanied by 6 gospel singers for an unprecedented symphonic concert scheduled for June 25.

Abdel Malik will share the poster for Wednesday July 6 with his partner Wallen.

As for Gaël Fay, he will come to decline the texts of

Lundi Méchant

, on July 7.

If Julien Clerc (June 27) and Calogero (June 28) are among the great names of French song announced, the event will undoubtedly be the arrivals (June 29) of the Dutronc father and son who united their talents on the occasion of a single tour.

Finally, Juliette Armanet promises to electrify the crowds twice (June 30 and July 4), after a totally crazy concert four years ago.

“She is really a hit at the moment, and rightly so, argues Sophie Broyer.

His career is exploding.

She is part of this current French pop that reaches a large audience.

Juliette Armanet is fresh, joyful and funny on stage.
