Glasgow (AP) - The Austrian national soccer player David Alaba did not comment on his personal future before the World Cup qualifier against Scotland.

"Of course you get a thing or two, but I'm not one who gets up every morning and reads the newspaper," said Alaba on Wednesday in Hampden Park in Glasgow when he was asked about various rumors.

The 28-year-old Bayern Munich defender announced in mid-February that he would leave the German record champions at the end of the season.

The defender's contract expires in the summer and is then free of charge.

"What lies in the future will show," said Alaba.

In Glasgow, qualification for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar begins for the ÖFB team against Scotland on Thursday.

Most recently, the 76-time national player is said to have canceled the French top club Paris Saint-Germain, according to media reports.

According to Spanish media, he prefers a move to Real Madrid.
