After a meeting on Thursday with leaders of the Shiite Coordination Framework Forces, the leader of the Sadrist movement, Muqtada al-Sadr, announced that the next Iraqi government will be a "national majority government, neither eastern nor western," and this came in a tweet to him on Twitter.

After the meeting, the coordination framework issued a statement that clarified that the outstanding issues and the latest developments in the current situation were discussed, "to strengthen the bonds of unity and fraternity among the sons of the one nation, and in a manner that serves the interest of the Iraqi people, which is a priority for all parties."

The statement stated that the meeting discussed a number of issues, including:

  • Take the necessary practical steps to fight corruption, hold the corrupt accountable, and stop the waste of public money.

  • Emphasizing the necessity of the exit of foreign forces according to the announced timetable, and setting up mechanisms to ensure that weapons are confined to the hands of the state.

  • Protecting, supporting and organizing the Popular Mobilization in a way that enhances its role in maintaining security in Iraq.

  • Criminalization of normalization and everything related to it.

  • Joint work to preserve the constants of the Iraqi people in addressing moral and social deviations in accordance with legal frameworks.

  • Work to raise the economic level of deprived areas, remove political competition from all service projects, and remove disadvantaged areas from these areas.

According to the statement, the two sides agreed to continue dialogues and discussions, leading to the development of realistic solutions to the blockage in the political scene.

The statement concluded, "The framework forces affirm that they will continue their legal and public steps with regard to following up on the issue of the election results."
