The Sultan Bin Ali Al Owais Cultural Foundation organized, the night before last, a virtual panel discussion entitled “Salem Al Jamri .. Naham the Emirati Folk Poem”, through its virtual platform on the website of the Sultan Bin Ali Al Owais Cultural Foundation, in which the researcher and poet Muayad Al Shaibani, and the poet Mahmoud Nour, participated in it. The dialogue platform was moderated by the poet Sheikha Al-Mutairi.

The seminar comes on the occasion of the launch of the book "Salem Al-Jamri .. Naham the Emirati Folk Poem", written by Muayad Al-Shaibani, as part of a series of flags from the Emirates launched by the Al Owais Cultural Foundation, and achieved a remarkable presence in society by documenting the lives of the late creators who left an imprint in cultural life .

Al-Shaibani said: “Salem al-Jamri was born in 1910 and died in 1991, and his poetic experience was characterized by the proliferation and continuous presence in various media outlets, as well as poetry evenings and song.”

He added, “As for the artistic vision of his poetry, Al-Jamri has gone through several stages, the first of which is the beginnings and the influence of ancient poets in the Emirates and the Gulf region in general, and after that other stages began in his poem, which is communication with the retired artist Ali bin Rogha, who sang more than 100 poems to him. Up to the stage of wisdom and the rich experience poems expressing the poet’s experience over about seven decades ».

For his part, the poet Mahmoud Nour shed more light on the life of Salem Al Jamri through his communication with his social surroundings, touching on many of the vocabulary in his poetry. He also dealt with professional aspects in Al-Jamri's life, through which he toured some of the works he practiced in different regions, which made him knowledgeable about public life rituals, so his poems stemmed from the depth of his human experience that people loved, and he sang a number of singers inside and outside the UAE. The panel discussion was attended by the Vice Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Sultan Al Owais Cultural Award, Dr. Suleiman Musa Al Jassim, the Secretary General of the Sultan bin Ali Al Owais Cultural Foundation Abdul Hamid Ahmed, a member of the Board of Trustees of the Award, Dr. Fatima Al Sayegh, and an audience of interested parties. It is noteworthy that a series of flags from the Emirates launched by the Al Owais Cultural Foundation in 2012 confirms the Foundation’s role in supporting the cultural act, and its perseverance and eagerness to immortalize the memory of those who paved the way of thought, culture and knowledge in the Emirates, and who gave the fruit of their lives, each in his own time, as they were torches that illuminate the path of the future. And it opens the horizon to creativity in all its forms from the pearls of literature and culture, bringing them back to living memory.

Moayad Al-Shaibani:

• «The poetic experience of al-Jamri was characterized by the proliferation and continuous attendance of poetry and song evenings.

• 1991 the year in which the Emirati poet Salem Al Jamri passed away.
