Did Travis Scott implicitly acknowledge that his Astroworld festival, during which 10 people died and hundreds were injured last November, did not ensure the safety of spectators?
In any case, the artist has just invested 5 million dollars in a major philanthropic project, which includes aid to improve the security of large-scale events.
With Project HEAL (healing in French), the rapper will notably help the US Conference of Mayors Task Force of Event Safety.
The mayors of his native state of Texas will be able to work with several sectors – technical, governmental, first aid, events, public health, among others – to improve public safety at large gatherings, as reported by Billboard.
Education and mental health
Education is also the other focus of Travis Scott's project, providing $1 million in scholarships for the Historically Black Colleges and Universities, an association of higher education institutions founded before the end of the segregation, and the passage of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, to help the African-American community.
The rapper's foundation will also fund educational programs in design and creation.
Finally, Travis Scott wants to invest in mental health.
He plans to set up free aids, such as toll-free numbers and online access to therapists, for those who suffer from mental disorders.
