It was analyzed that among the components that make up the latest smartphone iPhone 12 of Apple Inc. in the United States, Korean products account for the largest proportion.

As the composition ratio of Korean products was higher than that of the iPhone 11, it overtook the US to become No. 1 and widened the gap with Japan.

Nihon Keizai Shimbun (Nikkei) reported on the 21st that the proportion of Korean products was the largest when analyzing parts by price based on the results of disassembling iPhone 12 by'Formal Hout Techno Solution', a mobile device research company in Tokyo. .

According to reports, Pomalhout estimated the cost of the iPhone 12 to be 373 dollars (about 416,641 won), of which Korean parts accounted for 27.3%.

American parts ranked second with 25.6%, followed by Japan with 13.2%, Taiwan with 12.1%, and China with 4.7%.

Compared to the iPhone 11 released in the fall of last year, the price ratio of Korean parts increased by 9.1 percentage points, and the ratio of American and Japanese parts fell 0.2 percentage points and 0.6 percentage points, respectively.

The growing dependence of the iPhone 12 in Korea was largely influenced by the display.

Apple decided to use an organic light-emitting diode panel (all red, OLED) that shows images more clearly as the display of the iPhone 12 and adopted Samsung Electronics products.

Samsung Display's OLED price used in the iPhone 12 was estimated at $70, and the flash memory price supplied by Samsung Electronics was estimated at $19.2.

In addition, the DRAM price supplied by SK Hynix was analyzed to be around US$12.8.

Japan Display (JDI), a Japanese company that supplied major displays to Apple so far, only supplied liquid crystals for smartphones and could not participate in the iPhone 12 series.

Japanese companies such as Sony and Panasonic took the lead in OLED development, but Nikkei diagnosed that it became a standalone stage for Korean companies as they were unable to keep up with the investment competition.
