Guterres’ spokesperson Farhan Haq confirmed that “The Secretary-General of the United Nations received a letter with the words'Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan' on September 20, 2021”.

At present, the seat of Afghanistan in the United Nations belongs to the previous Afghan government, and the permanent representative is Ghulam Isaczai (Ghulam Isaczai).
