Her decision to postpone her residency in Las Vegas, Adele suffered.

However, the star is formal: she does not regret anything.

The British diva was asked by Desert Island Discs on BBC Radio 4 about her (much disputed) decision not to take the stage at the City of Sin, canceling her shows at the last minute when fans were already there.

“I definitely felt everyone's disappointment, and I was devastated, and I was afraid to let them down.

I thought I could wear it all and make it work, and I couldn't, but I'm sticking with that decision," she said.

Highly criticized on social networks, including by some of her most loyal fans, Adele still seems to be struggling to recover from the consequences for her reputation that this cancellation may have had.

Unable to buy

In the interview, the singer also explains that her decision was only linked to imperatives and artistic requirements.

Nothing else.

“You can't buy me, you can't buy me, for nothing in the world.

I'm not going to do a concert because I have to, or because people are going to be disappointed, or because we're going to lose a lot of money,” she said.

As the singer returned to the stage last Friday for the British Summer Time festival in Hyde Park, she finally seems more serene, but that does not mean that the last few months have been easy.

“I was an empty shell for a few months.

I just had to wait and grieve, I guess, grieve the gigs and get over the guilt, but it was brutal…” she said.

The star has yet to give new dates for her concert series, but she promised on The

Graham Norton Show last February

that

the concerts would take place before the end of the year.

Concerts canceled because the show was "not ready"

Adele announced in January the postponement of her series of concerts.

"I'm sorry but the show is not ready," she said in tears in a video posted on her Twitter account.

“We tried absolutely everything we could to get everything ready on time (…) but we were overwhelmed by the delivery times and the Covid”, explained the singer in particular, ensuring “reschedule all the dates”.
