China News Service, Beijing, April 3 (Liu Wenwen) 2022 marks the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Germany.

In order to promote further win-win cooperation between China, Germany and Europe, and join hands to lead the global low-carbon development process, the event "East-West Questions, Sino-German Climate Dialogue", hosted by China News Network and co-organized by the German Federal Economic Development and Foreign Trade Federation, recently launched online. Held in the form above.

Du Xiangwan, academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and former vice president, said in his speech that China and Germany should speed up the exploration and cooperation of the combination of non-water renewable energy and energy storage.

On the same day, Du Xiangwan pointed out that China attaches great importance to climate change and attaches great importance to addressing climate change.

Coping with climate change requires energy transformation and vigorously develops renewable energy, such as wind and solar energy. However, considering the intermittent nature of wind and solar energy, energy storage is inseparable from the stable energy supply and power supply required by the social and industrial economy.

He went on to say that Germany now has 120 million kilowatts of non-water renewable energy installed, accounting for one-half of Germany's installed power capacity, but only a quarter of the electricity required by Germany. Stable and intermittent.

To this end, China proposes to develop a new power system with new energy as the main body, combining intermittent renewable energy with energy storage.

He pointed out that hydrogen energy is a very important form of energy storage.

At present, there are two problems in the development of hydrogen energy.

The first is how to produce hydrogen.

Hydrogen is a secondary energy source, which must be produced by other energy sources. Green hydrogen should be developed using non-fossil energy sources.

However, most of the current methods are coal-to-hydrogen production, which requires the emission of carbon dioxide, which goes against the original intention of using hydrogen.

The second how to use hydrogen.

Using hydrogen to store unstable solar energy and wind energy can theoretically work, but I am afraid it is still lacking in practice.

Du Xiangwan said that the current German wind and solar energy development is strong; China's wind energy and solar energy have also exceeded 300 million kilowatts of installed capacity, but the actual contribution to China's power supply is still small.

How to combine non-water renewable energy with energy storage to generate stable, high-quality power is worthy of more cooperation and exchanges between China and Germany.
