Abu Dhabi Police: 4,138 violations of not giving priority to pedestrians within 6 months

The Traffic and Patrols Directorate of Abu Dhabi Police recorded 4,138 violations of drivers during the first half of this year for not giving priority to pedestrians in the places designated for crossing, stressing the intensification of efforts with partners to promote safe crossing for pedestrians.

The Directorate called on drivers as part of the "Safety Path" campaign to pay attention to the traffic and cross pedestrians on various roads, and to abide by reducing speeds near the places designated for their crossing, in industrial areas and on internal roads in residential neighborhoods, and giving them priority in crossing.

And she urged pedestrians to adhere to the safe crossing of the places designated for them, use bridges and tunnels, and abide by pedestrian signals at intersections that work in conjunction with traffic lights to regulate vehicle traffic, stressing that the safety and security of pedestrians is a shared responsibility between pedestrians and drivers on the roads.

She explained that the violation is against non-compliant drivers, including item (69) not giving priority to pedestrians in the places designated for crossing, and a violation of 500 dirhams and 6 traffic points.
