Abu Dhabi International Book Fair 2022 kicks off tomorrow

The activities of the 31st edition of the Abu Dhabi International Book Fair, organized by the Abu Dhabi Center for the Arabic Language of the Department of Culture and Tourism in Abu Dhabi, will start tomorrow morning and will continue until May 29 at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Center, with the participation of 1,130 publishers from more than 80 countries. More than 450 cultural, knowledge, and creative events, as well as interactive activities targeting different segments of society.

The Federal Republic of Germany will be the guest of honor for the event this year, to present to the audience of Arab and Emirati culture an integrated program within a special pavilion, in which a group of the most prominent German writers, intellectuals and thinkers will participate.

Throughout the exhibition days, the public will witness a variety of activities on the exhibition’s agenda, which includes multiple pillars that include the main podium and the youth podium, in addition to the business lobby and lifestyle corner as well as the art corner, which offer a wide range of dialogue sessions, seminars, and literary, cultural and intellectual evenings that host A group of the brightest names, most notably the poet and critic Adonis, Guido Empiens, the 2021 Nobel Prize winner in economics, Professor Roger Allan, one of the most important Western researchers in contemporary Arabic literature, Professor Mohsen Al-Moussawi, Professor of Arabic and Comparative Studies at Columbia University and others.

The exhibition also organizes a wide range of educational events, and specialized activities for children presented by a group of academics and specialists, in addition to the cultural program for the guest of honor, as Germany will celebrate, within its pavilion, the creativity of a group of thinkers and creators, with the participation of about 80 publishers, intellectuals and creators who present more than 14 cultural and professional sessions A variety of shows, accompanied by a selection of German films inspired by books. The local and Arab audience will also learn about the creations of the poet, playwright and novelist Johann Goethe, as well as a visual, cognitive and creative account of a long history of German intellectual, linguistic and literary creativity.
