Today, 143 fires have been extinguished in Russia's forests with an area of more than 4.8 thousand hectares, the Agency for the Protection of Air Forests from Fires announced.
"143 fires have been extinguished in an area of 4,785 hectares in Russia during the past day," the authority said in a statement, published by the Russian "Sputnik" agency.
"By midnight on April 18, there were 48 forest fires in Russia covering an area of 3,082 hectares, and they were actively extinguished. Most of them are in the Khakassia region, and there are four fires on an area of 1,175 hectares," the statement noted.
