Scharbeutz (dpa / lno) - Two wrong-way drivers within two hours kept the police on Autobahn 1 in the Ostholstein district in suspense.

In both cases, no one was injured, the police said on Tuesday.

First of all, a car driver reported a wrong-way driver on Monday around 11 a.m. who was traveling in the wrong direction between the Oldenburg and Heiligenhafen junctions.

According to the information, the police blocked four interchanges in the area concerned and escorted the 84-year-old wrong-way driver from the motorway.

Almost two hours later, drivers reported another wrong-way driver between the Ratekau and Scharbeutz junctions.

The 79-year-old driver turned on the highway.

Another driver was only able to prevent a collision by braking hard, the police reported.

A witness followed the wrong-way driver and reported the location to the police.

The police secured the woman's driver's license.
