A touching story of an organic chemist who works as a cleaner to support her family..and a minister intervenes

The Indian press published a touching story about the ordeal of a woman who was working as a cleaner despite having a Master of Science degree. The Minister of Municipal Administration of Telangana on Monday offered her a job as an entomology assistant at the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation.

In response to a report on women in one of the leading daily newspapers, the Minister offered her a job commensurate with her qualifications.

The Special Secretary for Urban Development, Arvind Kumar, who conveyed to Ms. Rajani the letter of the Minister regarding the position offered to her revealed the letter.

Kumar tweeted that the orders were issued after checking her credentials. Rajani, who has two daughters, was moved and cried when the minister assured her of all the support and offered her her job as an entomologist assistant in the entomology department.

Rajani, who hails from Warangal District, was born into a family of agricultural workers.

Despite financial problems, she continued her studies with parental support and passed her first-class Master of Science (Organic Chemistry) in 2013.

She also qualified for her Ph.D. from Central University of Hyderabad, but in the meantime she was married to a lawyer and moved to Hyderabad.

Rajani became a mother of two but continued to appear in competitive auditions to secure a job.

However, the family fell into crisis, as her husband became bedridden with a heart problem, while she began selling vegetables to support the family of five including her mother-in-law.

As she was not earning enough money, she took up the job of sweeping on a contract basis in the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Authority for a salary of Rs 10,000.
