According to the Ministry of Employment and Labor on the 14th, 2,500 new applicants for job search benefits under the age of 29 last month rose 37.9% from the same month last year.

New job applicants last month increased in all ages, but the rate of increase was the highest for those under 29.

Fifties (34.9%), over 60 (31.4%), 40s (28.8%), and 30s (23.4%) were followed.

The job search benefit is an allowance paid by the government through the Employment Insurance Fund to the jobless.

Among new applicants for job search benefits, the total number of employees under the age of 29 and those in their 30s was 42,000, or 38.0% of the total (11,600).

Four out of 10 new applicants for job search benefits are young people in their 30s or younger.

The youth job shortage was due to the corona19 crisis, which caused companies to face management difficulties and uncertainties to reduce or delay new recruitment.

Last month, the number of new recruits for the company through the public employment support portal'Worknet' was 144,000, a 22.8% drop from the same month last year.

The number of new jobs was 344,000, an increase of 6.2%.

The supply of manpower has increased slightly, but the labor market has frozen due to a sharp decrease in demand.

Looking at new applicants for job search last month by industry, the manufacturing industry was the largest with 2,200.

Then, the wholesale and retail business (1,400), the construction industry (1,3,500), the business service industry including the travel (1,900), and the health and welfare (10,000) were followed.

Lodging and catering (61.4%) was the highest growth rate for new job applicants compared to the same month last year.

It is the industry that faced the direct impact of avoiding face-to-face contact and social distance due to the corona19 crisis.

The transportation industry (53.3%), manufacturing industry (35.4%), and business service industry (35.2%) also had high growth rates.
