A 12-year-old girl died on Sunday February 20 during a hike under the Col Vert, in Saint-Paul-de-Varces (Isère), reports Le Dauphiné Libéré.

This young German, on vacation with a French family, had a fatal fall while she was walking on snowshoes with her hosts in the Vercors, specifies France Bleu Isère.

The teenager was already dead when paramedics arrived.

The emergency services were alerted around 5.30 p.m. A team from CRS des Alpes and a doctor from Samu went to the scene, but the victim had already succumbed to his injuries when they arrived.

The exact circumstances of this tragedy had not yet been determined on Monday morning but a slide remains the most likely hypothesis.
