A short mutiny delays the start of the 11th stage of the Vuelta

The start of the 11th stage of the Tour of Spain, which connects Villaviciosa to the Col de la Farrapona (north-west of the country), was delayed for a few minutes on Saturday due to a protest by some riders against the decisions of the jury of the race the day before.

The Ineos-Grenadiers team and its leader Chris Froome in the lead expressed their disagreement with the decisions taken by the marshals at the finish of the 10th stage on Friday, which they believed unduly penalized their teammate Richard Carapaz.

He lost his yellow leader's jersey, because Primoz Roglic was given a three-second lead at the finish line with a small break in the final, in addition to the ten-second bonus for the winner of the l 'step.

This protest movement however quickly ended and the riders started the stage normally.

This is the first part of a very mountainous weekend: this Saturday, the peloton will have to climb a 3rd category pass then four 1st category passes, including the arrival at the top of the Farrapona.

On Sunday, the runners will have to climb two 3rd category passes, two 1st category passes, before arriving at the top of the mythical non-category pass of Angliru.

Eight days ago, the entire Giro d'Italia peloton refused to take the start of a stage to protest against the race conditions, including transfers between arrival and departure cities.

They had obtained that the stage in question be cut by 100 km.
