A pedestrian was fatally struck on the A63 after interchange 26 in the Bordeaux-Bayonne direction, near the town of Canéjan, around 10 p.m. this Wednesday evening.

“The pedestrian was probably present on the traffic lanes and he was probably hit by a truck, given his injuries,” reports the CRS Autoroutière.

The driver of the vehicle that hit the pedestrian has not yet identified himself to authorities.

The victim, being identified, is a man.

The motorway CRS has launched an appeal for witnesses as part of its investigation into the accident.

Anyone likely to provide information to investigators on the registration of the truck or the conditions of the accident are asked to contact 05 56 33 77 16 or 07 78 10 96 69.
