Under the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, a plane loaded with a new shipment of aid destined for the brotherly people of Lebanon left Dubai International Airport to support relief efforts and mitigate the effects of the huge explosion that occurred in Beirut And caused massive human and material damage and destruction to large areas of the Lebanese capital.

The aid started from the International Humanitarian City, specifically through the World Health Organization's logistics center in the city, containing about 25 tons of medical supplies and personal protective equipment, with a value exceeding five million dirhams.

The shipment included equipment that would help medical teams and relief teams to fulfill their duty to rescue the injured and provide them with appropriate medical care in light of this crisis, and at this difficult time when convoys and medical teams around the world are facing great pressure due to the outbreak of the "Covid-19" epidemic.

Robert Blanchard, from the World Health Organization Logistics Center in Dubai, expressed the organization's gratitude and deep appreciation for the great support given by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, for its efforts aimed at serving humanity, mitigating the effects of regional and global health challenges, and enhancing medical capabilities to help patients and the injured in all Place.

He expressed the organization’s thanks and appreciation to the government of the UAE, the International Humanitarian City in Dubai, and Emirates Airlines for the rapid response to support the people of Lebanon.

Blanchard said: “The new aid shipment comes to meet the needs monitored by the medical teams of the World Health Organization in Lebanon, which is an essential necessity at this stage to provide treatment to those injured in the blast, in addition to providing protection for health care workers, given the challenges they encounter in facing The outbreak of the (Covid-19) epidemic ».

For his part, the Executive Director of the City for International Humanitarian Services, Giuseppe Saba, stressed the urgent need for this aid, and said that the huge explosion that rocked the capital Beirut, last week, calls for the provision of urgent assistance to the Lebanese people in solidarity with them in this ordeal, while the second shipment of targeted aid proves The capital, Beirut, has the capacity of the IHC community in Dubai to respond to emergencies, and help those most in need of aid in such a difficult time.

It is noteworthy that the United Arab Emirates was one of the first countries to extend a helping hand to the brotherly Lebanese people to help them overcome this crisis.
