He was indicted for "manslaughter by driver".
A 19-year-old motorist was presented to a magistrate on Monday after the fatal accident on Friday on a country road in the Gers.
The driver undertook a dangerous pass and left no chance for two cyclists - a 46-year-old man and his 16-year-old son - who came in front.
A call for witnesses
The young motorist was "placed under judicial supervision, with a driving ban," Jacques-Edouard Andrault, the prosecutor of the Republic of Auch, told AFP.
In this investigation, the gendarmes are looking for a second vehicle, the one the driver was overtaking, "to find out if he had a causal role in the accident".
They appealed for witnesses.
