China News Service, August 26. According to the "Central News Agency" report, in 2020, the US police foiled a kidnapping plot against Michigan Governor Whitmer.

One of the men pleaded guilty and agreed to testify that he agreed with the group, and was sentenced to more than 6 years in prison on August 25, 2021 local time.

According to reports, the US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) stated that more than a dozen people have been prosecuted in state courts or federal courts since the conspiracy was revealed.

The Associated Press stated that the FBI said at the time that these people were dissatisfied with Whitmer's implementation of multiple COVID-19 restrictions.

On January 27, 2021, one of the men involved, 25-year-old Ty Garbin, pleaded guilty.

In the plea agreement, Gabin stated that in the summer of 2020, he and others received weapons training in several places, and they also "discussed plans to capture the (Michigan) Capitol and kidnap the governor."

Eventually the location of the kidnapping was transferred to the governor's residence in Antrim.

On the afternoon of August 25, Federal District Judge Robert Jonker pronounced his sentence, and Gabin was imprisoned for 6 years and 3 months.

The prosecution originally sought a nine-year sentence.

According to reports, Gabin used to work as an aircraft technician in the small town of Hartland, Michigan, and had no previous convictions.

He is willing to cooperate with the government and apologize to Whitmer in court hearings.

Attorney Andrew Birge said that Gabin "breaked" with five other defendants in January 2021 and is willing to plead guilty to the federal charge of conspiring to kidnap.

Another eight people were prosecuted in Michigan State Court for involvement in domestic terrorist activities.

The prosecutor said that all 14 suspects were related to an extremist organization.

Whitmer's office released a fragment of the victim impact statement she had previously submitted to the court.

She said that the threats have not stopped, and for her, everything can't be returned to the way it was.
