A man was indicted and imprisoned for stabbing his wife on the night of Wednesday to Thursday at their home in Chevilly-Larue (Val-de-Marne), we learned on Saturday from the Créteil prosecutor's office. The man, 29 years old and arrested at the scene of the murder, "was indicted for murder by spouse and imprisoned", told AFP the prosecutor's office in Créteil.

According to a judicial source, the victim, aged 30, tried to flee through the window of his apartment before being caught by his companion. One of the couple's two children, 4 years old and present in the apartment during the tragedy, was provisionally entrusted to Social Assistance for Children (ASE). The other child is currently with family members, said the same source.

This case brings to 44 the number of suspected feminicides identified since the beginning of the year, according to an AFP count. In 2019, AFP identified at least 126 cases of women killed by their partner or ex, or a woman every three days on average.
