Under the title: “The History of Epidemics in the Arabian Peninsula”, the eighth edition of the Gulf Conference for Oral Heritage and Oral History, organized by the Department of Culture and Tourism - Abu Dhabi, will be launched by default, and it will be broadcast live on the “Abu Dhabi Culture” platform on YouTube.

The annual conference aims at preserving the common heritage among the countries of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf, consolidating the assets and consolidating the efforts exerted in protecting and preserving the heritage, in addition to strengthening the moral legacy, through this meeting that brings together a group of experts and specialized scholars, who have had a role in Documentation and research process related to the conference topic.

The conference also sheds light on the experience of the UAE, and the countries of the Gulf Cooperation Council, in overcoming historical epidemics at the social, economic and psychological level, and gaining economic resilience over time.

The virtual conference attracts a group of academics, researchers and experts, from universities in the Gulf Cooperation Council countries, institutions and departments related to the field of heritage, oral history, and health care, in addition to specialists in social sciences and history.

The head of the Department of Culture and Tourism - Abu Dhabi, Mohamed Khalifa Al Mubarak, said: “The Gulf Conference for Heritage and Oral History continues its role as an ideal and innovative platform, to establish the position of the capital as a major center for preserving, advancing and promoting oral history in the hearts of new generations.”
