A Hérault resident suspected of having destroyed two statues of the Virgin

A man was arrested in Castelnau-le-Lez (Hérault): he is suspected of being the author of the degradation, on two statues of the Virgin, in Montaud (Hérault) and in Sumène (Gard), learned

from the gendarmerie services.

Some of the statues had been destroyed with stones.

A craftsman will rebuild the statue of Montaud

He was taken into custody, and will be tried in March, before the criminal court.

The statue of Montaud was "pulverized into twenty pieces", laments the mayor of the town, Joël Raymond.

The elected representative also indicates that a craftsman from Tarn-et-Garonne has offered to rebuild it entirely, and for free.
