The National Program for Artificial Intelligence launched the "Deep Fake Evidence", as part of the initiatives of the Digital Quality of Life Council, chaired by Lt. General H.H. Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, with the aim of enhancing societal awareness of the positive and negative uses of deepfake technology, and its impact on the quality of life. The lives of individuals, and familiarizing them with ways to protect from the various challenges caused by the incorrect use of these applications and modern technological means.
The "deep counterfeiting" guide contributes to consolidating the concept of comprehensive quality of life in the UAE, enabling individuals to adopt a healthy relationship with technological means, introducing them to the importance of the correct use of these means to face the challenges of the digital space, and guiding them to how to deal and effectively use this technology, which will positively affect their lives. It increases the effectiveness of sectors that enhance the quality of their lives, including medical, health care, and government services, and promotes the growth of the national economy, entrepreneurship and investments, through the use of advanced technologies that rely on individuals' data to provide advanced services using virtual reality.
The Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence, Digital Economy and Remote Work Applications, Omar Sultan Al Olama, stressed that advanced technology has contributed to a qualitative shift in the lives of societies, and has proven its feasibility and positive and comprehensive impact in various fields, pointing to the importance of focusing on these positive and beneficial uses of various advanced technologies. Enhancing community members’ awareness of its wide capabilities and its diverse applications, introducing them to the most important future challenges, and employing technological knowledge in finding innovative solutions that contribute to building a better future for future generations.
He said that the launch of the "Deep Counterfeiting Guide" comes within the framework of national efforts aimed at shedding light on various aspects related to the positive uses of this future technology, and highlighting the most important challenges arising from the misuse of technology tools and their danger to societies in general.
Al Olama added: “The National Program for Artificial Intelligence aims to support all programs and initiatives aimed at accelerating and encouraging the adoption of technology in various vital and future sectors, while ensuring the highest standards of security, privacy and data security, and cooperating with various government and private agencies in the UAE and abroad to ensure the employment of technology. The future with high efficiency will benefit the economy and society.”
The guide reviews the huge diversity of various fields and the beneficial uses of these technologies in many sectors, such as medical applications, film content industry, advertising, entertainment and visual effects, in addition to customer service (virtual assistant) and news broadcasting (virtual news provider), and many others.
