Villeurbanne has recruited American Norris Cole for two seasons, the former leader of his main rival in the French Basketball Championship, Monaco, the club announced on Wednesday.

Norris Cole (31, 1.88m) has the rare characteristic for a player playing in France to have won two NBA titles in 2012 and 2013 with the Miami Heat alongside LeBron James and Dwyane Wade.

He then continued his career in the Euroleague at Maccabi Tel-Aviv and then at the Buducnost Podgorica, before joining AS Monaco in November 2019 where he was one of the best players in the Elite until the final interruption of the season (14.3 points and gave 4.5 assists in 23.9 minutes per game).

Offensive leader

"He knows how to adapt his game to all situations and he will be a real attacking leader for us", welcomed Tony Parker, president of the club champion of France in 2019 who is still looking for a coach after the dismissal of Montenegrin Zvezdan Mitrovic.

Last week, Asvel announced the return for four years of international Paul Lacombe, also from Monaco.
