It was the neighbors, embarrassed by the smell, who alerted the police. According to France Bleu Vaucluse, a body was discovered Wednesday in an apartment in Carpentras (Vaucluse). It was hidden in the trunk compartment of a sofa bed. His condition, extremely degraded and the beginning of mummification suggest that the death could go back several months.
The tenant of the apartment returned home, accompanied by a friend, while investigators were taking samples. They were both immediately taken into police custody for "intentional homicide". The latter was extended by 48 hours until Friday.
At the same time, an autopsy and DNA tests were carried out to try to identify the mysterious victim.
