A couple in their 50s who abused their adopted teenage son by forcibly feeding him food waste or making the so-called 'Wonsan bombing' have been sentenced to imprisonment.

Incheon District Court Criminal 2nd Independent Judge Kwak Kyung-pyeong announced today (5th) that he sentenced a 50-year-old woman who was charged with child abuse and special injury under the Child Welfare Act to two years in prison.

Judge Kwak also sentenced A's husband B (52), who was also charged with child abuse under the Child Welfare Act, to 8 months in prison and 2 years of probation.

Mr. A was charged with abusing or hitting his adopted son C (10 years old in 2017) in an apartment in Michuhol-gu, Incheon, etc. for 4 years from 2017 to last year.

It was investigated that he forcibly fed group C with food waste in a sink strainer or burned his arm by pinching his arm with a hot iron rod.

A said that he did not clean the house properly or that he returned home late after school, and hit C's whole body with a stick, and threatened him with a weapon.

Mr. B also said that he was using a laptop at his home in August of last year, and with his head banged on the floor, he also ordered the C army to bomb Wonsan with his hands behind his back.

Couple A registered their marriage in 1994, and it was investigated that they adopted group C, who was 1 year old at the time, in 2008.

Judge Kwak said, "The degree of abuse the victim adopted by the accused child is not light."

He continued, "It seems that the victim must have left a psychological wound that is difficult to heal, so severe punishment should be imposed," he said.
