A 5-year-old child killed after being hit by a skier in Flaine

The ski resort of Flaine (Haute-Savoie) was the scene of a tragedy during the weekend.

A 5-year-old girl died on Saturday after being hit by a skier, as emergency services said on Sunday.

The firefighters intervened shortly after 11:30 a.m. on Saturday to rescue the young victim after the shock suffered while she was taking part in a course at the French ski school (ESF).

The child died in the helicopter transporting her to the hospital, despite the first aid given by the skier who hit her, himself a volunteer firefighter, said

An investigation for manslaughter was entrusted after this tragic death to the research brigade of the gendarmerie of Bonneville (Haute-Savoie).
