Chinese Internet users reach 904 million

  The "Report" shows that as of March 2020, the number of Chinese netizens reached 904 million, an increase of 75.08 million from the end of 2018, and the Internet penetration rate reached 64.5%, an increase of 4.9 percentage points from the end of 2018. The scale of rural netizens is 255 million, accounting for 28.2% of the total netizens, an increase of 33.08 million from the end of 2018; the scale of urban netizens is 649 million, accounting for 71.8% of the total netizens, an increase of 42 million from the end of 2018.

  According to the report, the number of mobile Internet users reached 897 million, an increase of 79.92 million from the end of 2018, and the proportion of Internet users using mobile phones to access the Internet reached 99.3%, an increase of 0.7 percentage points from the end of 2018. The proportion of Internet access using TV is 32.0%; the proportion of Internet access using desktop computers, laptop computers, and tablet computers is 42.7%, 35.1%, and 29.0%, respectively.

30.8 hours per week per person online

  The "Report" shows that as of March 2020, the per capita online time of Chinese netizens was 30.8 hours per week, an increase of 3.2 hours from the end of 2018. Affected by the new coronary pneumonia epidemic in early 2020, netizens have significantly increased the length of time online.

  According to the "Report", in December 2019, among the various apps frequently used by mobile phone netizens, instant messaging apps have been used the longest, accounting for 14.8%; online video (excluding short video), short video, and network audio , Internet music and online literature applications ranked second to sixth in terms of usage time, followed by 13.9%, 11.0%, 9.0%, 8.9% and 7.2%. The proportion of short video application usage time increased by 2.8 percentage points year-on-year, and the growth was obvious.

Online video (including short video) users increased the most

  "Report" shows that as of March 2020, China's instant messaging users reached 896 million, an increase of 104 million compared with the end of 2018, accounting for 99.2% of the overall Internet users. The number of online video (including short video) users reached 850 million, an increase of 126 million from the end of 2018, accounting for 94.1% of the total netizens. Among them, the number of short video users was 773 million, an increase of 125 million from the end of 2018, accounting for 85.6% of the total netizens.

Online education user growth rate exceeds 110%

  "Report" analysis, since 2019, China's personal Internet applications continue to maintain steady development. Among them, due to the impact of the new coronary pneumonia epidemic in early 2020, the opening of schools in primary and secondary schools nationwide was postponed, teaching activities were changed to online, and the number of online education users increased by 110.2% over the end of 2018.

  According to the report, driven by e-commerce live broadcasts, the number of online live broadcast users increased by 41.1% over the end of 2018; the number of online payment users reached 768 million, an increase of 27.9% over the end of 2018, and the growth rate of mobile online payment users was 31.1% .

Nearly 40% of online shopping users do live e-commerce

  In terms of online shopping, the "Report" stated that as of March 2020, China's online shopping users reached 710 million, an increase of 100 million from the end of 2018, accounting for 78.6% of the total netizens; mobile online shopping users reached 707 million, an increase from the end of 2018 116 million, accounting for 78.9% of mobile Internet users.
