The government is announcing a plan to raise electricity rates for the third quarter of this year, which has delayed the final decision, on the afternoon of the 27th.

KEPCO, which posted a record loss of 7.8 trillion won in the first quarter of this year, has been demanding an increase of 3 won per kilowatt-hour in the third quarter.

Deputy Prime Minister Choo Kyung-ho made the rate increase a reality by saying in an interview yesterday that he would announce an appropriate level of increase because it is impossible to delay the increase in electricity rates.

In addition, Deputy Prime Minister Chu said, "Inflation will be in the range of 6% this month or in July or August."
