Dibba Al-Fujairah Municipality confirmed a violation and warning of 37 shops, which raised prices before the Eid period, or announced fake sales, without a permit, during the first half of this year.
It said that it has assigned teams to carry out inspection campaigns, with the aim of verifying the validity of promotional offers and discounts announced by shops and commercial centers, and controlling manipulators and violators of laws and regulations regarding discounts on goods and merchandise.
The Consumer Protection Department stated that the inspectors violated 20 stores, and recorded 17 warnings for owners of violating commercial activities.
Most of the violations include commercial fraud, selling expired materials, manipulating expiration dates, and raising prices, especially during the holidays, in addition to “fake sales” or without a permit.
The Municipality Director, Engineer Hassan Salem Al-Yamahi, confirmed that the municipality carried out 46 inspection tours of markets and outlets in different areas of the city and its affiliated areas, adding that the municipality is keen to monitor all negative practices, and to control all those who practice them.
Al-Yamahi added that the municipality received 119 complaints during the first half of this year, calling on consumers to participate in deterring anyone who tries to exploit them with fake downloads or commercial fraud, by immediately reporting any violations they monitor by calling the emergency office number (092443399), which works around the clock.
